Adding Product Badges Documentation

Summary

Product badges can be used to highlight key information about products. Badges help customers make informed decisions about which products they want to explore further.


How to Add Product Badges

Using Product Tags

  1. Open the product you’d like to update in Shopify.

  2. Scroll down to Tags.

  3. Enter badge_Your badge text (replace Your badge text with the desired text).

  4. Click Save.

Note: Tags can also be updated using:

  • Third-party apps.

  • The bulk editor.

  • CSV product import feature.


Using Product Metafields

  1. Create Metafield Definition:

    • Navigate to Settings > Custom Data > Products.

    • Click Add Definition.

    • In the Name field, enter Product badge.

    • Ensure the Namespace and Key field is set to custom.badge.

  2. Update Metafield:

    • Navigate to the product you’d like to update.

    • Scroll to the bottom and enter text for the “Button text” metafield.

    • Click Save.


Tips

  • Use clear and concise text for badges to ensure they are easily understood by customers.

  • Experiment with different badge styles (e.g., colors, icons) to make them visually appealing.

  • Regularly review and update badges to keep product information current and relevant.

  • Ensure consistency in badge text and formatting across all products.

  • Test badges on different devices to ensure they display correctly and are responsive.
