# Refund and cancellation

**Last updated:** April 29, 2026

**Legal entity:** Brickspace Lab Inc. (“**Brickspace Lab**”)

**Contact:** <hello@brickspacelab.com>

This policy describes how **billing**, **renewals**, **cancellations**, and **refunds** work for Brickspace Lab’s subscription and digital products (**Slab**, **Catalog**, and related Services). Please read it **before** purchase.

Brickspace Lab is located in **Ontario, Canada**. Consumer protection laws may give you rights that cannot be waived; where this policy conflicts with mandatory law, **mandatory law applies**.

***

## 1. Subscription billing cycles

**1.1 Period.** Paid subscriptions are billed on the cycle shown at checkout (for example, monthly or annually).

**1.2 Automatic renewal.** Unless otherwise stated at purchase or disabled where the platform allows, subscriptions **renew automatically** at the end of each billing period at the then-current rate until you cancel.

**1.3 Price changes.** We may change prices with reasonable advance notice where required by law. Continued use after the effective date may constitute acceptance.

***

## 2. How to cancel

**2.1 Self-service.** Where available, cancel through your account dashboard, billing portal (for example, Stripe Customer Portal), **Shopify’s subscription management** for app charges, or Theme Store mechanisms—depending on how you purchased.

**2.2 Email.** If you cannot cancel in-product, email **<hello@brickspacelab.com>** from your account email with “Cancellation” in the subject.

**2.3 Timing.** Cancellation **stops future renewals**. It does **not** erase amounts already charged for the current period unless **Section 4** applies.

***

## 3. What happens when you cancel

**3.1 Access.** You typically retain access through the **end of the paid period**. After that, paid features may be disabled according to the product (for example, Catalog subscription features or entitlement-linked theme updates).

**3.2 Data.** We may delete or de-identify hosted data associated with your account after a reasonable retention window, as described in our [**Privacy policy**](/legal/privacy-policy.md). Export any data you need **before** cancellation if the product offers export.

**3.3 Shopify themes.** Theme licenses obtained through Shopify may be subject to **Shopify’s policies** regarding transfers and uninstallation. Our obligations track your valid entitlement and Shopify’s records.

***

## 4. Refunds

**4.1 General rule — subscriptions (Catalog and recurring SaaS).** Fees for subscription periods **already started or completed** are generally **non-refundable**, except:

* where **mandatory law** requires a refund;
* where we **fail to provide** the Service materially as described and do not remediate within a reasonable period; or
* where we **authorize** a refund at our discretion (for example, duplicate charges or billing errors).

**4.2 Annual prepayment.** If you prepaid for an annual term, **partial refunds for unused months are generally not provided** unless required by law or expressly stated at purchase. Some jurisdictions require pro-rated refunds in specific cancellation scenarios—**we comply with those requirements**.

**4.3 Theme Store / Shopify billing.** Purchases processed by **Shopify** may follow **Shopify’s refund windows and policies** for themes or apps. Where Shopify’s rules apply, they may supersede this section for the payment rail—check your receipt and Shopify’s documentation.

**4.4 Chargebacks.** Contact us before initiating a chargeback so we can investigate billing errors. Abusive chargebacks may result in account closure.

***

## 5. Trials and promotional credits

If we offer a **free trial**, conversion to paid may occur automatically unless you cancel before the trial ends—see the signup screen. **Promotional credits** have no cash value unless stated.

***

## 6. Failed payments

If payment fails, we may retry charges as permitted by our processor and suspend Services until payment succeeds or the subscription is cancelled.

***

## 7. Business purchases

If you purchase on behalf of a business, you confirm that the purchase is **not** a consumer transaction where that affects statutory cooling-off rights; **business purchasers** should rely on this policy and their agreement with us.
