There is a 25,000/views per day limit on any the Google Maps API. After this limit is reach any maps on your store will use a fallback static image. If you have an upgraded API key the limit can be extended.

Summary


In order to use some of the features on our theme like the store locator you’ll need to create and update a Google Maps API key.

How to


Generate an API key

  1. Visit the API Console.

  2. Log into your Google account or create one if you don’t already have one.

  3. Click the Create project list button, then click the + button in the top right corner to create a new project.

  4. Enter a Project Name, agree to the terms, and click Create.

  5. Click the Enable API button.

  6. Search for Google Maps Javascript API and select it.

  7. Enable it for your current project.

  8. Search for Google Maps Geocoding API and select it.

  9. Enable it for your current project.

  10. After the APIs are enabled, click the Create credentials button.

  11. Choose to create an API Key.

  12. The last window will show you the Google Maps API key. Copy this and paste it into Theme Settings > Store location > Google Maps API key
